Legends of Slots
Legends of Slots turned out to be far more of a light puzzle game than the name suggested to me. You spin a grid of symbols, match little fantasy icons in rows, and each matched set powers up one of a roster of characters you collect as you go. The whole thing is tap-and-release, one finger, easy to pick up at a bus stop.
What won me over was the character side. Every hero has a small ability that changes how a board resolves, so you start thinking about which one to bring before you spin. It gives a surprising amount of planning to something that looks purely chance-driven at first. The art is clean and the little animations when a hero levels up are genuinely cute.
It's not deep in the way a tactics game is, but it never pretends to be. For short sessions it's well paced, the menus are tidy, and it runs smooth even on an older phone. I kept coming back to see which hero I'd unlock next.
What we liked
- One-finger controls that work on any phone
- Collectible heroes each change the puzzle board
- Tidy art and quick, friendly sessions
