Yes, real strategy works on a phone

Yes, real strategy works on a phone

For years I assumed proper strategy belonged on a PC with a mouse. Tidewall Command changed my mind. It's a coastal defense game where your walls hold back both raiders and a rising tide, and it plays beautifully with one hand.

The trick is the adjustable speed. You can slow things to a crawl while you place buildings, then let it run when you're confident. That removes the frantic tapping that ruins most touch strategy games.

What makes it click is that every decision does double duty. A wall is both a barrier against raiders and a dam against the sea. You never place one without weighing both jobs, and that tension is the whole game.

If you've written off mobile strategy because of past frustration, this is the one I'd hand you. Start on the easy coastline, learn how water flows around your builds, then crank up the raider pressure. It scales well.
